Do you have hot water and good quality showers?
Yes we have hot water and fully updated and luxurious showers with a lot of water pressure in a glass enclosed tile shower attached to every room in the hotel building.
How far is it to the beach from the hotel?
You can get to the beach within 25 minutes of casual walking, or 5 minutes by taxi cab or electric golf cart. Most locals use pedal bikes and walk everywhere, but expats use golf carts, taxis, and some purchase vehicles.
How far to shopping locations and what it is like?
The best shopping is done in Liberia City which is the capital of Guanacaste and is about an hour from the hotel, you can take a taxi there or the local bus and spend the day getting a huge amount of value for money spent. Alternatively if you want simple shopping access the beach has hand made Costa Rican arts and souvenirs, and you can find things like hammocks, sun dresses, hats, sun glasses, skirts, tank tops, flip flops, and similar. From the front of the hotel to the beach shopping in Playas del Coco it is a 25 minute walk or 5 minute taxi. There are banks and local grocery stores as well so you can cook your own food items in the hotel room if desired.
What is there to do and see in and around the hotel?
In the area there is access to scuba diving, fishing, surfing (Ollie’s Point and Witches Rock), zip lining (canopy tours), river rafting, volcano excursions (Arenal), boating/sailing, hiking, quadding (dirt bikes etc), snorkelling, bird watching, wine sunset cruise on catamarans, horseback riding, jet skis and all of the best tourism activities for your friends and family. You can definitely make special requests for things you may want that are harder to find. Often if you ask the front desk for what you are seeking we will be able to help you.
What is the closest international airport?
The easiest way to fly into Costa Rica and stay with Hotel Chantel is by landing at the Liberia International Airport in Guanacaste airport code LIR, from this location the hotel is only 25 minutes from the arrival gates stepping off the plane. Most major cities in North America have direct flights to LIR in under 4 hours so you can have an awesome weekend or longer vacation quite easily. In the area there are regional airports at the surrounding beaches serviced by Nature Air and Sansa Airlines.
Can you drink the tap water in the rooms at the hotel?
Yes you can drink the hotel room water, the Playas del Coco municipality has a large water filtration system at the bottom of the hill beneath the intake for the hotel water supply, so you can trust that the water is pure and safe.
Do you accept companion animal pets?
Yes we do accept pets but you need to tell us about it before booking so we can ensure that the animal will be suitable for our the space we have in the common areas. Generally small dogs are allowed but anything above knee height we need to discuss and of course this is only on a case by case pre approved basis. We love animals just an much as you, but having an aggressive animal that barks is not conducive with guest zen.
Are children allowed at the hotel?
Yes we allow children to attend with their families but there is a maximum number of persons per room, please ask in advance.
Do you have a shuttle service from the airport?
No we do not but we can arrange for private pickup at the airport, alternatively you can take a local taxi from the airport to the hotel but you will usually pay about $20 USD more per trip by not contacting us due to pricing differences at the airport. The best way to get around is by taxi, renting a car, taking the local bus system, riding a bike at the beach, or getting a golf cart.
Can you setup tours with the hotel front desk?
Yes, we can help you setup tours at any and all of the local tourism providers. We are not pushy and we can help you setup tours with insured and reputable companies that have a high level of integrity and safety standards.
Can you assist with finding high value car rentals in the area?
Yes we can and we work with local companies that are insured and reputable. We can get you up to 20% off normal prices with many of the local car rental companies, just ask at the front desk.
How much are your hotel room prices?
Rates vary by season but the room pages of the website are always accurate. All room rates are in US dollars USD and do not include 13% sales tax.
What payment types do you accept for bookings?
Cash, credit card, Paypal, and bank wire.
Please note that by submitting your credit card info you agree to our reservation and cancellation policies. A reservation or modification is not confirmed until you have received email confirmation from our reservation desk.
All reservations must be prepaid with a 50% deposit, balance paid on arrival except in our Peak Seasons when full payment is required when making reservation.

How do holidays effect room reservations?
For Holy Week, Christmas, New Years and Easter a minimum of 3 nights lodging is required.
What are the maximum occupancy per suite or unit rental?
Standard room: 2 Adults, an extra person is $15.00 additional.
Studio suite: 2 Adults, an extra person is $15.00 additional.
1 Bed Apt: 3 Adults, an extra person is $15.00 additional.
2 Bed Apt: 4 Adults, an extra person is $25.00 additional.
What are general things to keep in mind about the hotel?
-If a key is lost you will incur a $25.00 replacement fee.
-All rooms are non-smoking units.
-There is a $15.00 charge for each missing bath towel.
What are your cancellation policies?
-30 days prior to arrival date, 1st night charge.
-45 days prior to arrival date, 50% total stay charge.
-90 days prior to arrival date, total stay charge.

We have taken steps to try and reduce consumption of natural resources.
What are the energy conservation policies?
-100% of light fixtures are outfitted with LED bulbs.
-Air Conditioning: we ask that all guest please minimize the use of AC and please make sure to turn off your AC unit when leaving the hotel rooms.
What are the water conversation policies?
-Linens and towels are only changed every 3rd day or by request.
-There are low-flow toilets in all bathrooms. Please make sure to not put any personal hygiene items in the toilet as Hotel Chantel is on a septic system.
-There is controlled water usage throughout Hotel Chantel, please be conscious of water usage, especially in the dry season.
